Avita Perfect Score HRC CEI
PLANO, TEXAS (December 4, 2023) — The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation has awarded national health care services organization Avita Care Solutions a perfect score on its 2023 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). Established in 2002, the 2023-2024 CEI is the 21st iteration of the nation’s leading benchmarking tool for evaluating a company’s LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion policies. It rates companies on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families
  • Initiatives that help support an inclusive culture, and
  • Corporate social responsibility

With more than 600 employees across the United States, Avita Care Solutions is committed to promoting health equities by providing comprehensive, compassionate, and inclusive health care and pharmacy services to underserved communities. Ensuring its team members, patients, and covered entity partners from the LGBTQ+ community always feel welcomed, included, and respected is one of Avita’s cultural hallmarks and is built into the foundation of the organization’s core values. While this year’s survey engaged over 1,300 employers—including Fortune magazine’s 500 largest publicly traded businesses—only 41.9% received top marks. Avita’s efforts in satisfying all the CEI’s criteria in 2023 earned it the Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion designation, which is reserved for businesses that score 100% on the index. This is the third year in a row that Avita has received a perfect ranking from the HRC.

A blueprint for effectively supporting LGBTQ+ employees and their families

“For well over two decades, businesses have played an important role in furthering LGBTQ+ equality by centering employee needs and voices when it comes to workplace inclusion,” said RaShawn “Shawnie” Hawkins, the Human Rights Campaign’s senior director of workplace equality. “The CEI is an ever-evolving tool–a blueprint that companies can use to show up more effectively in supporting their LGBTQ+ employees and their families.”

Avita Care Solutions is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work each day without fear of discrimination or harassment, says Avita CEO Michael Yount. “We understand that the needs of the LGBTQ+ community are deeply personal and complex and strive to offer a company culture that nurtures each team member as an individual,” he says.

Yount also emphasized the importance of continuously learning and adapting to the needs of Avita’s team members. “Achieving a perfect CEI score would not be possible without our team’s constructive feedback, dedication to treating everyone with dignity and respect, and drive to build compassionate care in everything they do,” he says.
