Standing Up for What’s Right: Avita & LGBTQ+ Health Equity

At Avita, we believe every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, deserves access to comprehensive and affirming healthcare and pharmacy services. We oppose any legislation that undermines the healthcare rights and dignity of individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. Avita CEO Michael Yount explains in an open letter to the public.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend in attempts to limit the rights of the LGBTQ+ community through legislative measures. This year alone, more than 480 bills discriminating against the LGBTQ+ community have been introduced or carried over from last year in 40+ states. Over 100 of these bills are targeted at restricting healthcare access and services for LGBTQ+ individuals.

At Avita, we stand firm in our belief that every individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, deserves access to comprehensive and affirming healthcare and pharmacy services. We oppose any legislation that undermines the healthcare rights and dignity of individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.

Recent legislation, including Ohio House Bill (H.B).68 and South Carolina H.B.4619, restrict gender-affirming care for transgender and non-binary individuals. Such measures not only instill harmful stigmas but also threaten the well-being and lives of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Legislation that creates a more equitable landscape for LGBTQ+ individuals to access high-quality healthcare and pharmacy services aligns with Avita’s mission and our core values. Put simply, Avita stands for what is right.

Avita advocates for policies and programs that remove barriers preventing underserved communities from accessing compassionate, comprehensive, and inclusive healthcare and pharmacy services. Legislation that creates a more equitable landscape for LGBTQ+ individuals to access high-quality healthcare and pharmacy services aligns with Avita’s mission and our core values. Put simply, Avita stands for what is right.

We should all commit ourselves to staying informed about legislation, engaging in constructive conversations, and lending our voices to support efforts aimed at protecting the rights and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community. Broadening our own understanding and advocacy can help us build more support for equitable LGBTQ+ legislation and defeat discriminatory policies.
